SENIOR MEALS
There is a new program open to Walker area residents over age 60. You can have a hot, noon meal delivered to your home for only a $3 donation per meal. If you are interested in this service, please call Hollie Kane at the Falcon Senior Dining Center in Central City at 319-438-6691. Volunteers are also needed to deliver the meals which only takes about 1 1/2 hours. If you would be willing to help with this worthy project, please contact Karen Hansen at 448-4456. There is also a need for a scheduler to organize the delivery of the meals. Please call Karen if you can help.
THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make
2011 Walker Pickle Days a success.
THANK YOU to the generous sponsors who made
an outstanding fireworks show possible.
THANK YOU to all the volunteers who donated
their time and talents.
Although summer seems like a long time ago already, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped to make Pickle Days another big success. Thank you to all the people, businesses and organizations who helped out in any way. As always, we are looking to make Pickle Days even bigger adn better next year. If you have any suggestions, ideas, comments, or criticisms, we want to hear from you. Please e-mail Dave Beuter at thebeuters@iowatelecom.net. It takes a lot of work to put this even together and we would love to have your help. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Lonnie Helms at 448-4425.
New City Sign
As you have probably noticed, Walker has a new sign as you come into town from the south. The sign was created by Fred Zasadny for his Eagle Scout project. WBC donated $500 to the project with funds coming from the Quilt Raffle at Pickle Days as well as the General Fund. Thanks, Fred, for a job well done!
What is the Walker Betterment Club????
The Walker Betterment Club was founded in March 2006 as a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and promoting the Walker community. Its membership is open to any citizen of Walker and the surrounding area. Yearly dues are $15 per person or $25 per couple. Catalyst, a print newsletter mailed to all households with a Walker zipcode, will be published as needed to inform people of Walker events and WBC activities.
Upcoming Community Events:
Please see the calendar for community events. We are somewhat limited on the information we can post on the calendar, so you might also check the new "Community Events" page.
If you have a non-profit, community based event you'd like to share, please send the information to informwbc@yahoo.com to be included on this site. Please remember we are a volunteer organization and will do our best to post this info in a timely manner. Not responsible for errors.

Catalyst is mailed as needed free of charge to the approximately 800 households with a Walker zip code. Its printing and mailing cost is paid for by Walker Betterment Club. If you'd like something considered for Catalyst or are interested in advertising in Catalyst, email JBenning@iowatelecom.net.
