Walker Betterment Club Membership

*If you've been waiting to join the Walker Betterment Club, wait no more. Membership dues have been reduced to $15 a person/$25 per couple. Meetings are held the last Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm at the Community Room. Meetings are kept at one hour or less. Become part of this active volunteer organization committed to improving Walker, energizing Pickle Days and helping other community organizations. Since Walker Betterment Club was formed in 2006, we've accomplished a lot, but would like to do more. We need more active members to make that happen. Here's a partial list of what we've done so far:

-Build the Can Castle to have a convenient drop-off spot for can recycling
-Start Movie in the Park
-Sell ballpark advertising signs to raise funds for ballpark improvements and upkeep
-Scare the daylights (at their request!) out of the kids at the Boy Scout Hayrack Ride
-Began Pickle Days to bring something new to our yearly town celebration
-Started Catalyst, a periodic community mailing that is sent free of charge to every house with a Walker ZIP code
-Christmas Lights Contest, which rewards and encourages Walker's great tradition of Christmas light displays
-Started a community website to keep people informed
-Maintain our community sign that advertises events and activities
-Donate funds to Loving Lynx, North Linn PTO, Pickle Days Fireworks, Walker Historical Society and Little Bears Preschool
-Provide volunteer help to mail out invitations, prepare and serve at the People Who Care dinner
-Print and distribute flyers and pick up cans to help the Boy Scouts at their Fall Can Cleanup
-Help at the Easter Egg Hunt

*If you're interested in joining, come to our next meeting. Or you can send your dues to Walker Betterment Club, PO Box 152, Walker IA 52352. We look forward to seeing you!

Please mail your $15 per person or $25 per couple membership dues to WBC, PO Box 152, Walker, IA 52352 or bring to the next meeting.

Welcome
